Default Blazer 97 S-10. Transmission?

This happens occasionally. So I come to a stop sign or a complete stop and when i step on the pedal for some reason it does not move. I press harder and the rpm gauge moves to 2 and a half. The problem is that i have to keep it above 2 on the gauge or else it slows down or doesnt run. I dont know if its that it stays stuck on shift 3 or 2 but other times it doesnt feel like its locked up and runs fine staying below 20k rpm.

Sorry if im not explaining this the right way. Mechanic keeps telling me its abs locking my tires keeping my blazer from moving as fast but the transmission doesnt feel like it shifts when it slows down?

Don't think i've heard of anything like this before, but then again 97 seems to be a weird tranny year, when you're driving for a good distance.. a few miles or so and you stop at a stoplight how does it behave slowing down to the stop?

www.transmissioncenter.com Read other postings from myself and other BF posters.
Guys and gals, it be nice if you folks give us an idea of the mileage on the Blazers in question. I understand that after 100,000 miles tranny problems beggin. Knowing the service history helps. If prior owners abused and failed to maintain and service the vehicle, what do you think will happen?

Stops just fine. The problem begins when I try to accelerate. I'm having to give it more gas in order to accelerate and it still doesnt accelerate at the right pace. Its 180K on mileage. It does have some electrical problems like gauges showing wrong especially with the fuel. MPH and RPM gauge always worked fine. Also today I noticed that if im parked and switch from P to R or P to D then i hear a kind of clunk sound. Dont know if it has anything to do with the problem?

The First thing that I thought of when I read your post is that it's not down shifting into 1st Gear thus giving you the problems of acceleration. I had that problem with mine were I didn't have Gears 1 or 2 and it was a combination of problems. My 1-2 Shift solenoid in my Tranny went out and my computer in the car was not functioning right. These might be avenues you look at. Hope some of the senior members might come in on this conversation.

It feels like it doesnt want to accelerate in lower rpms. Then again this problem comes and goes so I dont know if its something thats wearing out or if the computer or some cables are loose. Either way I'm going to have this checked if it gets more serious. Thanks for all the help and I'll have a look at the solenoid.
