Blazer stopping and loosing power
Hello all :)
New to the forum, but not to Chevy's After a ten years period with no Chevy I'm back with a -95 Blazer 4.3 vortec 4x4 but.... Lately having problems with the engine losing power, when pushing the throttle, the response is very slow and it seems to have about 50 hp instead of 200... Also having problems with the engine suddenly stopping / dying when driving. Mostly after hard braking or bumps in the road, but also on flat, smooth road at even speed. Mostly easy to start, never starts on 1. attempt though, but always second... Sometimes it has full power and goes very well, but suddenly back to almost no power. Have changed the fuel filter and the relay (thought it could be relay because of dying in bumps) but no effect. Have read many posts here, but still not quite sure where to start looking. Any help and suggestions are most welcome Regards Řivind |
200 is the break horse power rating, meaning at peak performance that is what it is getting.
Numbers are what we need around here, what vacuum are you pulling at idle? Also did you change the fuel filter with the pump? What is the fuel pressure at start up? |
A little wrong writing
Did write that I'd changed the fuel pump, should be fuel filter...
Thougts was somewhere else I think...:icon_rolleyes: There is vacuum at idle, but how much...? About pressure, I have lowered the gas tank yesterday to change the fuel pump. Have put in the new pump, but are going to clean the tank outside and paint it before putting it back. (rusty under the black coating...) Also have to replace two rubber hosings. Cracked on the outside, so I thougt there would be an idea to replace before putting back the tank. (of course sunday with no shops open) Got no idea what the pressure is like, but hopefully the new pump solves the issue... Was at a nearby garage that do am-cars and got a reading, but no errorcodes at all... Will come back when finished with the tank :) |
Finished
Fuel pump changed, fuel tank cleaned and painted, hoses replaced, vent valves repaired, everything put into place... and
LOL everything's just fine, starts on first try and is back at full power :-) Out burning rubber... |
Glad you got it figured out.
