Hi, My 2001 blazer ls keeps failing emissions and, on the top of the engine I have a hose that looks like his has been cut before I bought the blazer. The hose leads down to this part by the radiator, was wondering if this could be the problem of failing and or what this thing is for. Thanks for all help!

That hose is the AIR (air injection reaction) pump intake hose and it is supposed to be like that.

Has the inspection location told you what the reason for the failure was? Are there any codes present?

Yeah Can't remember code but!

Yeah it threw about 3 codes I eliminated 2 of 3, The 3rd is saying Air Injection System or something like that, I know it's to do with AIR, Is that hose coming off of that part suppose to be capped off at the top or just freely open? right now there is nothing on it just a cut hose at the top sitting on the side.

Thanks!

As I stated, your description of the hose describes how the hose is supposed to be. It comes from the factory with a slash cut on the end of the hose.

There is a TSB concerning the pump; the possibility of the pump taking on water and either corroding or freezing in colder climates thereby damaging the pump. TSB #04-06-04-015A lists pump kit PN 17803251 for 2001 L35 engines and 17803252 for the 1999-2000 L35 engines.

THIS PAGE shows a schematic of the AIR system and shows the hose you speak of.

What is the specific code (Pxxxx) that is present? P0410 deals with the AIR system and can be a real pain to get repaired properly.

Thanks for the help I believe it was P0410 code that is the problem still. I went around this thing checking hoses and so on, I might just have to look harder, we took it to a mechanic who fixed 2 of the 3 problems the other he wanted to do the smoke test but at the time we was on a budget. I'm almost back to being caught up on things from being laid off of work, so I might take it back in if I can't locate the issue. But thanks a ton that helped me a lot was worried about that hose, thinking where the hell does this thing go lol.

It is the secondary air injection motor there is a fuse for it behind the battery with a small rectangular cover you have to kinda snap off. My fuse was blown I changed it and all is good
