Can I Put a 1995 4.3 Vortex in a 1999 blazer?

I blew up my old 4.3 for my blazer and i just bought a 1995 4.3 engine to put in it for $75 and it works. I need to know if i can put it in my 1999 blazer?

Short answer, NO.

You might be able to use the short block, but from the heads on up is different.

Up to 1995 the 4.3 was throttle body fuel injection. Starting in 1996they went to multiport fuel injection. If your heads are still good swap them, along with the entire fuel injection system, over to the 95 shortblock. Be sure to utilize all the sensors that came from your truck.

On that thought... you need to make sure that you can install the crank angle sensor onto the new (older) engine before you start wasting time and money. Anyone else have thoughts on this?

No TBI for 95, only CPI.

Take a look at that to see the changes made. It is a little light on the later SCFI motors, but should give you the gist.

AdamP - after reading through the engine builderlink provided by Kyle I thought of Something else. I dont know if your state performs emission testing. But if they do then they might not pass your vehicle if you have an older engine than the year of your vehicle. Just something to think about.

You have a point... How would they ever know unless they had a reason to check the casting numbers... of course the numberscould even be ground off and re-stamped but thats getting a little excessive.

Up to 1995 the 4.3 was throttle body fuel injection.
Just a little clarification on that point the switch from tbi to cpi started earlier than 95 in 94 only 1% of these trucks were made with tbi the majority were cpi.
