Cannot stop coil wire from arcing

!995 GMC Jimmy SLE 4.3 L

Trying to stop random misfiring. Replaced spark plugs, wires, distributor cap, rotor, and ignition coil. Did not help misfire problem at all. Waited til after dark to look for arcing spark plug wires and the only one arcing is the coil wire. Tried rerouting it but it arcs against anything it gets close to, even the heater hoses. Tried another new wire with same results. I also noticed arcing on the body of the ignition coil. Any suggestions on what I might try next? Thanks.

are you sure all the wires snapped into place properly?

Yes, I have double checked them all. I also used dielectric grease on all wire ends.

So that's it? The only thing that could cause this problem is a loose wire?

The tower on the ignition coil is cracked, I had the same issue on my Zr2. A new one will run 30-40 bucks. You will need to drill out the rivits to separate it from the ignition module and the new one should come with bolts.

Replacing the coil was one of the first things I did, along with new plug wires, and it made no difference. It turned out that one of the new plug wires was defective. Just goes to show that replacement parts can be faulty even if they are high quality.

Sorry I missed that in the first post. I have run into an issue using non Acdelco parts on the ignition as well.
