Cant get Transmission Oil pan back on???? Help
 

I got a 2001 Blazer 4.3L 4x4 went to change transmission fluid and cant get the pan back on.... I got it off I should be able to get it on if so Its hard as hell... anyone have any Ideas??

Mine balked for a while once until I realized the filter wasn't seated completely up in its bore. Pushed harder and the pan was able to fit snugly.

Another thought: is your filter deep-pan while your pan is standard?

mattnew, see my response to "computernerd". He posted asimilar question. Did you loosen the bolts to the Exhaust manifold and "Y" pipe? Is the pan hitting or touching the "Y" pipe (exhaust pipe)?

Thanks chevygonzalez I will give that a shot... Im changing my filter and fluid hoping it will fix the real issue... Im hoping the transmission does not need rebuilt... read my other post see if you have any ideas alot of people of viewed but i have not got any replys so im just kinda thinking of things it could be....

Never had to touch any of the exhaust components in order to change the transmission fluid/filter. Had to drop the cross member but the exhaust doesnt interfear at all on mine. The filter can get in the way if it or the new seal arent seated all the way-(You remembered to pull the old seal out and then install the new seal flush right?) or in agreement w/Dr Blazer if you have a deep pan filter that you are trying to install in a shallow pan. If your still having problems can you post more specifics? If it isnt hitting on anything and appears to have clear access between the pan and the housing all the way around then it is likely your filter sticking out-making it difficult when it otherwise wouldnt be...

I dont think its the filter I do have a deep filter though... But yeah it is hitting the cross member (steel) That seems like it would be a pain to get out of the way... It looks like its holding alot of stuff up... seems like if i take that off alot will be falling down

Every time I changed mine fluid and filter on my 89 Jimmy I had to drop the crossmember for the pan to clear. You might have gotten lucky with removing the pan but something may have shifted just enough to prevent it from going back on.
