carb spits out way to much fuel

hi there,
i recently bouhgt a blazer 1977 4,1l 6 in line.
now when i start it, i have to put the gas-pedal to the ground and then it takes a litle to get a good idle. when i release the pedal it will stall. when i keep it in it will not rev, it will just idle. now my carb is spitting fuel like hell. when i put my filter on it it will stall, even whitout filter , when i close the hood it will stall :s
would somebody know what the problem is?
thanks

Sounds like the carb float is stuck. Time for a rebuild.

Could be garbage sticking the works. Not knowing when the last rebuild was I would agree but a thorough cleaning may be way the to go as well.
