Changing Oil Type
Ive Read alot of other posts about Seafoam and Synthetic Oil So heres my Question, I Beleive I have a slight Intake Manifold Exterior leak, i can see a lil bit of it. My Oil levels are fine my antifreeze gets a little dirty and i top it up but other than that its fine, Now I Want to seafoam my Intake and Possibly my Crankcase as well. My Truck has 126,558 miles on it. Had Everything Tuned up in April 08. I want to seafoam it and the switch to amsoil 10w-30 Synthtic Oil. If I seafoam it will it cause more damage and secondly can i switch to syn next oil change?

RE: Changing Oil Type
I would get the intake manifiold gasket replaced prior to doing the Seafoam and, yes, you can switch to syn oil after it's all done.

RE: Changing Oil Type
Any Chance it will leak more and worse if i seafoam before I change the gasket?

RE: Changing Oil Type
I would say it is possible. Who knows?

RE: Changing Oil Type
i see, well ill tackle that when the weather gets warmer, ill do a seafoam treatment a couple of times to clean all the crap out then flush the Heater Core And Radiator and change the Manifold and Head Gaskets

RE: Changing Oil Type
just replace the intake gasket first to be safe

RE: Changing Oil Type
I run mobil1 10w-30 in my 98 4.3 blazer... I change the oil every 10k and the filter every 5k. Swapped it over to synthetics at 90K miles and now at 120k... so far no leaks.
