Checking timing, Where do the timing connector come in to the process?

I recived my CPI unit and Nut Kit today, and when the plenum is off, I'm going to check the timing since there are a lot more room to play around with it.

I know the process for replacing the distributor, TDC and all that, but I have never read anything on when the timing connector should be disconnected and reconnected.

Anyone have a answer for this?
