Default Transmission leaks after being in 4x4

So my 2000 project blazer which my friend has been driving has only been in 4x4 two times since i have owned it (not to offroad) and both times the transmission started leaking oil really badly a few miles after we put it back in 2wd.

The first time it happened the pan bolts in the front corners were lose so i tightened them and everything was fine. Now last night we put it in 4x4 just because and i guess today it started leaking oil really badly again.. i havent been over to look at it yet so i dont know where its coming from this time but im going to guess its the same place.

So is it just coincidence that it leaks all its tranny fluid out after being in 4x4 or is something else wrong?

If its not one thing its another with this Blazer... oh wait they are all like that.
thanks in advance

Went and looked at it today and the leak is coming from the drivers side of the transmission which is obviously where the transfer case is so i have no idea what to do next.. Is there a seal between the transfer case and transmission? but if so why would that leak when in 4x4?

I would have to go put it on stands and look again, but but the left side of the trans pan was covered in oil and part of the bell housing. so maybe it leaked out the shaft seal and got thrown everywhere? but why would that only happen in 4wd? Lol i need to get better educated in these transmissions

I do see a rear seal IM not sure if thats the leak tho.

Now is he loosing fluid from the trans? Was the level low? and did you check the tcase fluid level?

Yeah there is very little trans fluid in there now, i have to go put more in and see where the leak is coming from. And no i have not checked the T case fluid level im not sure how i go about checking it either sadly lol. I did see some trans fluid on the cooler lines but i reached further up them and didnt feel anything so i really hope one of them didnt break or come off.

With the fluid cold and in park it didnt hardly show on the stick at all, now i heard someone say check it in neutral but i always do it in park. but i just need to get some fluid in it and get it down the street to my house where i can put it on stands and actually get under there.

Oh and just for future reference do you happen to know how much fluid the trans holds? i vaguely remember 4 quarts.. seems a little low tho

Thanks so much for your help

So in the past 3 months the transmission hasnt leaked a drop but i also havent put it in 4WD. The only thing that has changed is i fixed the huge vacuum leak on the intake. So when i first got it and there was no vacuum leak i put it in 4WD and nothing happened leak wise. then the last two times i put it in 4WD it leaked shortly after and there was the big vacuum leak on the intake.

So does anyone know what happens to the transmission when you go to 4WD?? I thought maybe it was the T case adapter but the leak isnt coming from there. The only variable is the vacuum and i dont have a clue how that would affect fluid leaking when in 4WD. Im STUMPED! Im selling it soon so i would really like to figure it out.
