cold air intake
 

does anyone have any experience installing a cold air intake. i want to know if you have had any benifits from this mod.

Save your money. They do absolutely nothing for performance on port fuel injected engines.

Captain called it. I put the tube and filter from my Alero cai on my Bravada, and I only saw any difference at all at WOT. Which is fine, but I can't drive WOT all the time lol.

is their anything i can do tho the stock one to make it suck in more air or should i just leave it as is and be done with it

I suppose you could widen the intake port on the front of the air box, which would let more air in. Using an oiled fabric media filter (K&N, Spectre, etc) which catches contaminants better and has better flow could help.

You could also remove the checkering on the inside of the airbox with a file or grinder. You can add some duct insulation tape to the sides to put a bit of a barrier between the air on the box and the warm air of the engine compartment.

One of the reasons a cai won't have a pronounced effect on our engines is that if you notice, the air comes in behind the headlight housing. There's something in the way of getting a good steady flow of cooler air. On my Alero, the cai goes down into the fenderwell and behind the foglight, where it can get actual good flow of cold air. You'd probably only see any improvement at WOT, just like I did.
