correct spider for 2001
 

I have about decided to tear into my blazer is this what i need for the spider

i see that you can buy individual injectors..........if i post a pic of the top of my engine will anyone be able to tell if the new spider assembly[poppet] has already been installed??......It looks to me like some work has been done in the past..the milage is 133k.....I'm only trying to figure out what i need so i can get it ordered.....and tear it down while I wait.....

Only way to tell aside from pulling the injector assembly out is to at least remove the throttle body and peek inside through it's opening in the upper intake. You'll either see the wires running to the individual injectors indicating that you have the MPFI spider already, or you'll just see the black plastic tubing running to the ports with the little clips on them meaning you have the poppet style injector. From the outside at a glance without taking anything apart, there's no way to tell, especially if someone's been in the intake before.

thanks for the info.......i looked down thru the intake and smelled raw gas and saw clean aluminum......so I started turning bolts.......It was the original spider and there were only two that were not leaking......I have the new one and gaskets ordered........hope to have a good running machine soon......

What's prone to leaking on them usually is the pressure regulator hanging off the side under the intake. BUT, if it's the old version, you might as well take the chance to replace the entire unit with a newer MPFI spider. Have to pull the upper intake off either way :P

new parts .on the way.....so far i have the plugs in.....all six of them.......!!!

If I would have known what a difference in performance that the new style spider would make, I would have made the change right after I bought it.......even when the old ones were working well........It seems like it is running a little better with every mile........much more torque and about 3 more mpg so far......

So for anyone still running the old spiders.......my suggestion would be to get them out of there!!! ;-).........
