Crate motor help

First of all. If you're a Marine. THANK YOU! "Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they made a difference in the world. But, the Marines don't have that problem." R. Reagan.
There's a company in my town called "Michigan motor exchange". They sell garbage. Most engine remanufacturer's are the same way. Jasper has an excellent reputation. The 4.3 is a reliable motor when assembled correctly. If you're budget minded and want the lowest cost replacement. Look into a low-mileage junkyard motor. Shipping costs for long distance is still cheaper than a high reputation rebuild. In the motor city we see an engine that ran good enough to total the car it came in as a gold star on it's resume.
Search how new an engine (1996-2005) will accept your sensors and will work with your computer. Research now will save you money immediately and down the road.

10th VIN character of "T" is definitely a 1996, and it should look like this, which CSFI and OBDII equipped:
Your best options for replacement engines are 1996 & 1997. Absolutely no older than 1996.
