Cylinder head interchangeablilty questions

Well I'm at it again. I searched and searched and maybe I'm terrible at searching but I didn't come up with anything.

Long story short. I have an '02 that blew a head gasket. Yanked the cylinder head to find it cracked. I have sitting on the floor an engine from a '98. Yanked it's head off, it's in great shape.

BUT! As far as I can tell, the only differences are-

(1)- Casting numbers

(2)- Rocker arms. The newer engine has bolt down rocker arms, the old one has a stud with a nut. Is there any reason they wouldn't be interchangeable? The pushrods and what-not are the same length.

According to O'reilly's website, the valves are the same, the head gaskets are the same.

SO! Can I just swap 'em over or what? :D

Thanks guys.

Use the 1998 rockers on the 1998 heads. Pushrods and Lifters are the same part number between the two years.

Well that's exactly what I did and it worked great!

Now I just need to see how badly this frame is bent... :(
