Distributor problems

Hello I have a 1996 s10 blazer. That runs good when everything is is right. But I have to replace the distributor every year. Is there anything I can do to correct this? Help!!!

First, welcome to the forum!

Why are you having to replace the distributor every year? That sounds awful

Are you using the correct weight of oil? Supposed to be 5W30. Thicker oil can cause excessive wear on the distributor gear.

Along with what others have asked/suggested, what brand of distributors have you been using?

Have you set the CMP Retard appropriately when installing each new distributor? CMP Retard is a scan tool PID that correlates to the proper alignment of the distributor to the cam which, when set appropriately, will lead to the best distributor gear life.
