Default The dreaded P0300 code

For a 2000 Chevy Blazer 4door 4wd with Trailblazer pkg

Yup. I got it. No, not the Corona. That would be ok, at least that goes away lol. No I got that P0300 code. Anyone ever have any luck with this? I’m almost positive I know where this one is coming from. It’s for sure an ignition issue for me this time.

I have checked codes, well obviously I got this one lol.

I have new cap, rotor, distributor with new gear, plugs wires, coil, and maybe some other stuff I’m not remembering.

im almost sure my cap is bad. Maybe the sensor inside.

my next steps to be done in the cold include checking the camshaft position sensor. Data log has it steady at -16 degrees retarded. I do not know if that’s right. Gonna poke some stuff with metal today. Get some beeps going lol. Starting it in the garage ( doubt it will happen. Camaro gets pissed when I do that and likes to blow optisparks. That’s a whole nother demon. ) or starting it in the dark. See that coil light show. Also doing a compression test to check for bad valves or low compression. Any input would be killer. Will also post my findings as this just happened at the snap of a finger. Thought cat system. But no. Chopped out a good converter. That was expensive but was gonna need it soon. Welds were all cracked and ready

Cam sensor retard should be zero +/- 2 degrees. Sounds like you may be looking at timing, but if it is really cam sensor retard at -16 you have found your problem. Distributor needs turned to correct this to zero. You can grind hold down hole oblong or replace clamp with a small block Chevy one. Gear on the distributor may be installed 180 off on the shaft (odd number of gear teeth you know), but turning the distributor body effectively fixes any misalignment. Good luck and best wishes for a successful repair.

Thank you. Going out there this morning and checking on that. I tune cars and thought it wasn’t right. But I never played with a 4.3 so I didn’t want to just **** away money and time. It definitely plays on the timing. It will crank slow like a dead battery or you took a sbc and turned the distributor wrong. Like you said. Will post updates.

I think I did it. Cylinders 1and 2 where the only ones misfiring. I have and old but working cap, rotor, camshaft sensor etc. I noticed cylinders 1 & 2 run the same circuit on the cap. Replaced just that and it’s good. Took for a beat run and it ran. Spun the tires and all.
