dropped nut down in motor

hello guys I just joined here.but I really need some help.had to replace my head gaskets and a cracked head on my 99 blazer.while I was getting ready to pull the head on the driver side I dropped the back rocker arm nut and it fell down into the motor.could it had fell down and landed in the oil pan or could it be stuck some were in the motor? I have turned the motor over by hand and it trun just fine.

What part of the motor did it fall into? I don't think it would be in your oil pan. If figure it's either resting on top of a piston, or fell into either an intake or exhaust port which means it might be resting next to one of the valve stems or it fell into the distributor hole which would mean it is resting next to the oil pump shaft. But then again..I'm not sure what part of the engine you dropped it in and not sure how far your engine is broken down. Are the lifters still in place or removed?

Don't know if you've solved this yet...but I just went in my garage and looked at my old long block and an additional stripped block. From what I can see, there is a possibility that it fell into the oil pan. Me personally, I wouldn't risk running that engine until I had that nut back in my hot little hand.

You have no choice but to find it! dont forget to check the coolant passage! if it feel down around the ligfters/cam area then it should be there unless your really unlucky!but eathor way you ALWAYS have to find them, i know guys who have replaced a pistion and cylinder head from dropping a bolt/nut.
trust me you do not wanna be driving around knowing that nut is down there!

I got a mirror and looked in the oil pan.it was inside the oil pan;just stuck my hand down in it an got it with my fingers.

Glad you got it so easily! This is one of my biggest fears!

But when things like that happen,
