egr tube question
 

Well, during my manifold gasket fix I happened to strip the egr tube fitting. So It's stuck on the lim and I cant get it up to change the gasket. If I manage to get it off can I get another fitting just to screw back into the manifold, or do I need a whole new tube. If I cant get a new fitting could I cut the tube a few inches from the manifold so I could change the gasket, then use a copper tube to go over the cut one to act as a... idk how to say it,a sleeve so the gases can flow through?

You'll need the entire tube, (junkyard or dealer). If the threads in the manifold are damaged, you'll need a new manifold as well. At this point, you might be better off cutting the tube close to the fitting and using a socket to remove the fitting. Use plenty of PB Blaster and hope for the best.

If the threads are damaged in the manifold you could always try to repair with a helicoil kit

The threads in the manifold shkuld be fine. I couldn't get the fitting to even turn.

Did you try applying some heat to the fitting?

I know some of the threads in the intake manifold are NPT (National Pipe Threads)

Your option of cutting the tube would work with a Union Compression Fitting of the correct diameter. You can get compression fittings at any home center. Would not need a sleeve just the correct diameter of tubing bent to the correct shape and the Union Compression Fitting. (Union is used to tie two pipe ends together)

Yeah, I used a propane torch. It didn't make any difference.

I ended up having to cut thw egr line. Since it's cut I've been thinking about blocking it now. So what are the pros and cons of blocking the egr system, and how would I do this? I'm open to all opinions here, block it or replace the line?
