Default engine

I have a 97 four-wheel blazer when I started it and put it in drive and give it gas it dies on me. Does anybody know what might be causing that?

Will it idle in gear fine? Also, can you rev up the engine in neutral? Basically, does it die only under load, or any time the throttle is opened?

When I start the car. It revs up to about 3000 by itself and then goes back down and when I put it in drive. It runs for about 3 4 seconds

Have you checked the Idle Air Control (IAC) and Throttle Position Sensor (TPS)?
