Default Leaking

I'm a noob so please be easy. My 99 blazer is leaking oil or transmission fluid (not sure witch one) but its leaking from a pan directly above the muffler. Can someone please tell me what pan this would be? Thanks!

There shouldnt be a pan above the muffler or any of the exhaust pipes.
The cross over pipe (goes from one side of the engine to the other) goes between the oil pan and transmission pan. I'm going to assume the leak is dripping on the cross over pipe. This could be either oil or tranny fluid.

Typically oil will be black while tranny fluid is red, although it could be black if its never been changed. You really need to identify where the leak is coming from. The possiblities are:
Oil-Rear main engine seal- will leak out the torque converter cover.
Tranny fluid-Tranny input seal- will leak out teh torque conveter cover.
Oil-Intake manifold gasket leaking.
Oil- Oil pressure sending unit.
Tranny- Tranny dipstick tube.
Tranny-Tranny pan gasket.
Oil-Oil pan gasket.

The leak could be anyone of them. You have to figure out which one. It will determine the fix.

i know this might not be totally scientific but they do smell very different...have a bottle of oil and smell that then get a sample of the unknown fluid and smell that...see what you think...???
