engine not running right
someone gave me a 1995 4wd 4.3l blazer. it's not running right, it seems to be missing. it smokes alittle and smells like it's running rich. i replaced plugs, wires, cap and rotor button. i tried to use a code reader but i guess it's not obd 2. i just kept getting read error. where do you think i should go from here?

No check engine light? or SES whatever it says on yours.
Where is your ECU located. That can help determine which OBD system you have. Check here. If it's not OBD1.5 you could use the paperclip method. You may try cleaning the EGR valve as well. |
yes the ses light is on. it appears to have the ecu on the passenger side under the hood. i have no idea what the paper clip method is
|
sorry i went and read the paperclip thing. now is that the same connector as the obd2 because that scanner plugged right into it. that is made me thing it's a obd2

No probs. Click the colored words in my last post for some detailed info. |
click on the "paper clip" link in the post above and follow the steps and youll be able to read the code and that should tell you wats causing your engine not to run right.
|
i went to the paper clip page. and than went to try it to and there are no pins where it says A+B are suppose to be. so i tried my scanner one more time. but my scanner won't read it

if you have a full OBDII system you can always go to your local parts store(checkers,o'reilley's,etc.) and they should be able to read your code.
|
i bought this code reader off the mac tool truck. it's a et50 it says it reads obd2 & eobd. the truck doesn't have plates on it yet i want to get get it running before i have to put insurance and pay for taxes and tags
