Default Valves Not closing!

I just got A 98 blazer with 4.3l engine. it needed new heads put on it so i picked up a pair had them machined and torqued them down now the valves are staying open. did the machine shop take to much off the bottom of the head? can i shim the rockers to sit higher?

Sounds like you need some custom length push rods. How much did they take off of the heads?

im not sure how much was taken off but i think im going to make a shim to go under the rockers. ill let you know how it goes. if not i might try shorter push rods.

That washer will eventually get worn down and cause problems...the rockers are "rocking" back and forth and will eventually "work harden" the metal and cause it to break into pieces, or cause the original problem that you are having or both.

I am afraid if you cheap out now it will cost you more down the road. But, that is just my opinion.
