engine stalls
Check out Lindertech.com. They have a FPR upgrade kit that allows you to install the 96+ SCFI FPR into the older CPI spider body. To do this, you have to remove the spider. As a result, you should also replace the internal fuel lines.
The job is not all that difficult to perform and Lindertech has a complete kit with a reconditioned injection spider for $300 including the internal fuel lines, upgraded FPR, and all necessary gaskets/o-rings.

I bought and installed a new egr valve today and that did the trick for my truck. I got the egr valve for 102 bucks at pep boys, and put it in myself the bolt on the left side was a bit tricky other then thats, the easiest egr valve i ever exchanged. Now my truck wont stall anymore, but it still shaking at a red light, WHATS UP WITH THAT?
Ok new update. I did not replace the fuel pump yet. The mechanic was finally able to get codes out of it. One was for the EGR so he took it out and cleaned it and the second was for multiple missfire. He checked further and found the number 5 cylinder was not firing. Explanes why the truck was shaking when we last started it so he replaced the plugs and wires. Truck fired right up, he had it idleing for about a half an hour and then let my son take it for a drive. My son drove it for about 15 min and once the truck got warm it stalled out again. Sat for about 10 min and I had to pump the gas a few times then it started. Hooked it up to a fuel pressure guage again and it was 58 with key on and 52 with the engine running at 2500 rpm. The pressure did not leak off at all. Still not sure what to try next.
With a CPI engine, the term "regulator" is most commonly short for fuel pressure regulator or FPR as it has been referred to here. Installs have been covered numerous times as has costs involved.
Sorry it took so long to reply. Was on a cruise to Bahamas. Well one week has passed and truck is still running fine.
It was the fuel regulator that is attached to the spider. Part only cost 40 dollars. Until someone on here gave me advise I thought you had to replace the whole spider but you can just replace the regulator if you see no leaks. Turns out that was my whole problem. To bad it took spending 450 to find this out.
