fan clutch questions
 

I put in a new fan clutch and the mother roars until you rev over 2-2500rpm
We have cold weather here but even after letting it warm up for a good 10 minutes it still roars until I roll down the street and get the RPM up
Once I rev it up it goes quiet and its good for the rest of the drive
Doesn't seem to do it after short stops


is it possible the blade is bolted on backwards(PO)?, I put it back on the same way it came off

sounds normal mine does that at low speeds

mine does the same thing. only the first time i start it for the day it stays all pissed off and loud until i open it up a little after i get on the main street. has been doing it for a little over a year now.

My 99 ZR2 and my 05 Colorado do it also but not all the time. Just occasionally. I thought maybe that was because the clutch was engaged when I turned it off last drive. However when it does do it like yours they quit after a certain rpm. Must be normal. My Truck has done it since new.

it never roared like this with the old clutch
talked to my parts guy and he is going to warranty exchange it
just need to wait for some warmer weather to swap it out

Normal on a cold start up. If it doesn't roar cold, it's broke;) There are two chambers in the clutch. Once the fluid in the clutch warms up, or you hit 2500 rpm, the fluid transfers to the second chamber, and the fan slows down. It will remain quiet, (clutch slipping) until the engine starts to overheat. Fluid will transfer back to the first chamber and the fan will roar to provide extra cooling. If it doesn't stop roaring, or never roars, the clutch is bad.

Yeah, what he said! Makes sense so the clutch you have if it is kicking out once above 2500 RPM is fine.

Mine sometimes sounds like a heat pump running until it kicks out.

Hated mine so much I took it out and put in an electric fan, love it
