Default Freeze plug replacement help

This may have been explained on an older thread, but my search option has not been working... I need to replace the freeze plug next to the starter, on the right-side of my 350ci. I have never done this job before and I could ues some advice, I havn't started yet, I just yesterday notice that I have coolant dripping out from around the starter, and I know its the freeze plug from all the stories of similar problems.

I have a 1979 k5, the 350, no idea on exact milage.

How do I go about starting this project? What is the best way to get to the freeze plug? Is there enough room to get to it with/out pulling the motor? Where is the freeze plug exactly? And what does this process involve, a new plug, re-secureing the old one?(did I mention I have not done this ever before) My chilton has not been any help, there is nothing listed for freeze plug, is there another name for it?

Any help, advice, pointers, or just words of encouragement would help a great deal!

Thanks,
-Coddrick

Be patient.. dont get frustrated or hurried. Same as any maintenance or repair job. While you're at it you may want to check the others
