Default Misfireing

Ok I swapped the #2 and #4 plugs no change.Swapped 2 and4 wires run the engine and got a p0305 followed by p0300(random misfire). switch wires back and got p0304. I'm confused if the wire is the problem it should have been #2 giving the code not #5 or random.

Sounds like you need a new AC Delco cap & rotor! Might want to check and adjust camshaft retard too!

Is it hard to check and adjust cam retard? The only retard I know of is the one behind the wheel.lol

Camshaft retard is checked/adjusted using a capable scan tool. The $500 el cheapo ones that the auto parts stores have can not access the menu. The adjustment is done by rotating the distributor. From the factory, the distributor will allow for ~15 degrees of total adjustment. If you need more adjustment to get it within specs, the original distributor hold down bracket is discarded and an old style small block Chevy hold down bracket is installed. It needs to be checked/adjusted whenever the distributor is removed. The adjustment aligns the camshaft position sensor with the camshaft while at the same time aligns the rotor segment with the distributor terminals. The desired spec is zero degrees, (perfectly aligned) with a tolerance of 2 degrees + or -. When it is adjusted properly, it allows the PCM to detect cylinder misfire and accurately identify which cylinder(s) are misfiring. It also reduces/eliminates crossfire inside the cap, (which could very well be what's causing your misfire). If camshaft retard is off more than ~24 degrees either way, it will illuminate the SES light and set DTC P1345 in memory.

With your previous problems, and being a pre-computer kinda shadetree mechanic, I'd say you washed your spark plugs down with gas. You could A: pull them, give them a blast of carb cleaner to clean them up, let them dry and reinstall... or better yet, replace them.

Thanks for the dist. tip, Capt. I didnt know it did that.

Ok so I replaced plugs, wires and cap/rotor and still no change. After the cap/rotor is did seem to run smoother, but after it was all said and done it's still runs like crap. I freind used his scanner to check and the fuel rate on #4 was off ,so I'm thinking a bad injector. It would also make sents since I was working on the fuel system. He wants me to do a compression test on that clyinder,I don't think thats a problem. So I guess I'll keep going..... and yes I havn't spent alot of time messing with the computer side of things.I've been lucky,I find alot of it to be a big pain in the ***.

Default Misfire fixed

It's about time it finished replacing a injector on #4 cylinder and it's running great. Now I can get back to my toys.
