Gas smell in cab of truck
 

I have a 96 S10 extended cab 4.3 Vortec V6 I am getting a strong smell of gas inside the cab of my truck. Truck is running great except for the smell of gas. Only had one trouble code and it was intermittent code for the right Bank O2 sensor. Can anyone give me an idea where to look to address this problem? Everything I have read is pointing to the fuel pressure regulator but I don't want to spend money I don't have to if that's not the problem. Any suggestions would be very helpful, Spike 318

From what I've picked up here, one of the first checks to do is measure the pressure in the fuel lines. The gauges for doing so can be borrowed from autoparts stores. Look for threads as to how long the system should be able to stay pressurized at at what pressures.

Since you are already suspecting the fuel pressure regulator, let me tell you that the 60-66psi fuel pressure spec with KOEO in Captain Hook's post is definitely not hard and fast. In fact, many replacement injection spiders regulate to 58psi with the engine not running (including the AC Delco). So if you get 58 psi, don't say the regulator is bad because of the pressure. Also, know that replacement spiders are MPFI and do not require a minimum pressure to "pop off" and deliver fuel. The rest of Captain Hook's procedure is golden.
