Default gear indicator

Hello it is me again...

FInish to mount the gearbox on my 92 blazer, don't yet started it.
My gear indicator on dashboard didn't work... The needle stay on the right without anything when I move the gearshifter (automatic gearbox)..
How does is works?? Is it electrical (no battery on the chevy right now), mechanical?

There is a little cable with a clip on the end you clip to the steering cloumn below. It only goes one way.

Yes I've seen the clip and the little cable... It's electric??
I didn't see where it goes...

No. It just clips into the column where it can be pulled down when you put it in gear and is spring loaded to go to Park when you put the lever that way. Just try pulling on iy slightly and you can see the indicator move.

Thanks for your help...
I try to take the dashboard off but don't yet arrived.
Maybe the spring is out of order.
Is there something special for the dashboard.
I do my first try this afternoon. The speedometer don't work too...

You should just have to remove the trim panel below the steeering column.
