GM Dexos - New Standard for Oil
So i was poking around shopkey and i see this news update that gives a little insight to the new GM Oil Dexos 1 ans Dexos 2, its supose to be backwars compatible, Help with emmisions and be the new standard for oil. What have you heard and what do you think?

Looking over the list of 'authorized brands' for Dexos 1, the only OTC names I saw were all synthetic 5W30 formulations. I guess that's fine if your engine actually needs synth oil, but ours don't. IMHO, it's just another way for GM to cover their butt and make a buck by licensing. The last time they issued such a 'standard' it was to the benefit of Mobil 1, which I see is on this list, also.

hmmm interesting. I did a little bit of searching and its a semi-synthetic oil.

Comes in 5w-30,0w-20,and 0w-40. I called my dealership and for a 5 quart change its 40 bucks. So its not full synthetic at that price.
