Grinds only in drive and L2 not L1 or reverse ...
 

I have a 78 k5 blazer 4x4 with a 350. My problem began about a week ago when I would come to a stop and then go to take off I would hear a small clank. but then it would not happen again for a day or two.. well today I went and ate dinner with my wife and left only to have the grinding get worse and sounds of clanking. Drove it to a buddy of mine he looked at the u joints and said they were fine to have the trans looked at. Went to leave his house and got to the bottom of the hill, turned the corner and gave it gas and then OMG Grind, clank cling... whirl... it just wouldnt go. But the blazer will go into reverse without any noise and also on the colum shift the lowest gear will work... Any ideas? Please help I am not a transmission man and this is my pride and joy. :( Is there a chain that may be off(dont laugh I dont do transmissions) sounds like a chain is off like when it comes off a bike........

The tranny is shot, hate to say itbut its time for a rebuild or new tranny

yea its deffinitly as bad as it soundsi would go have the tranny rebuilt
