Has Anyone tried?

I was just wondering if anyone has tried applying a small bead of silicone around the rim of the distributer cap to water proof that area?

Yes, that is a common trick for off-raoders who routinely cross rivers, or run mud.

The down side is you need air to circulate in the cap.
