Help

I have found a new problem with my 2001 blazer auto trans. Now when I'm driving down the road and put it in neutral the rpm's stay reved up the faster I'm going the higher it revs! I'm thinking maybe the throttle body is sticking open a little but i don't know? Any advice would be great thanks.

May be a sticking idle air control or vacuum leak

I may just try spraying some lube on all the throttle linkage first

As newguy said, it could be a few things. IAC valve sticking, Throttle Blade sticking, vacuum leak, or TPS.
When mine did this it was due to a bad Throttle Position Sensor (TPS).
I had to hook my scanner up and watch it as I drove. Sometimes the TPS would hang at 24% and my engine would rev up.

Just curious but why are you putting the tranny in neutral while going down the road???

I just realized the post said auto trans. Now im kinda wondering the same. Mine was a manual and would hang rpms between shifts.

Oh yeah, true. Does idle down if you stay in gear? If so, whats the problem?

that was my first thought lol

are we talking about holding like slow cruising 1000 RPM's, or higher speed like 2500-3000 RPM's?
