Help a new blazer owner please!

I recently purchased a '92 blazer 4dr 4wd and it runs great but after it sits over night or for maybe a couple hours or more and i go to start it, it starts and then runs fine but shoots a puff of white smoke out the tail pipe right after it starts. what is the problem if there is one and what should i do? thanks.

You're sure it's white smoke, not blue? I generally think of coolant when it's white.
If it's white smoke check your cooling system and make sure the rad is full. Do you notice any other problems like smoking going downhill, or engine missfires or overheating?

No, it doesn't do anything else to indicate a problem, just when i first start it after it sits for a while, usually overnight. It starts fine but it emits a puff of white smoke out the exhaust pipe when the engine fires up. Could it be burning oil? i noticed that the oil level was overfilled on the last oil change that the person before me made. Should i go ahead and change the oil and see what happens?

Yea I would change the oil and usually if it's the coolant it will be a steady stream of white smoke.

More then likely it is blue smoke, but its really ahrd to tell.
The blue smoke comes from loose valve guides. It can be fixed or left be.
I drove a 4.3L for 220,000 miles with the puff of blus smoke at start up. Started smokeing around 60,000 miles, drove it till 286,000 miles before I totaled the truck out. Engine was still strong as the day I bought it. Keep up with the oil changes and you should be fine.

Id check the head gasket b/c the vortec headgaskets generally crack after a while. Don't know why they just do... Also check your overflow and the radiator cap. If it sprays out sometimes and hits the manifold it will send up white smoke... But if its coming out of the tailpipe, I don't know what it could be.
