Did I do something wrong? I took heat shield off and I can shut it but it requires persuading.

1ST thing you did wrong was wasting money buying a throttle body spacer - 2ND thing you did wrong was install it ... the only thing they do is let you say that You installed one and in your case make it where the hood won't close ......

Yeah, 100% agree with odat. Throttle body spacers are a waste of money. You could have ordered a bunch of stickers fr summit and they would have given you the same performance increase. More, actually, because they would have allowed you to close the hood!

Also, welcome to the forum! Stick around and spend some time reading. There's a few here who have done some performance builds on their 4.3.

I don’t know **** about cars. I just thought it was an easy and affordable manner in which to increase power and gas mileage. What are some suggestions as to a list of things I could do to enhance preformance in a more intelligent fashion?

Browse through the threads in the "Performance & Brainstorming" section for lots of different ideas.

Was yours a 2 wd? my 2004 4 wd fit great, and can feel some improvement in response. Think I have enough room for the 1" spacer under the plastic intake. Will post any news. BLAZE ON! ODAT NOT RIGHT, being very cheritibull.

If yours is 2wd, the body sits lower on the frame than 4wd. my '04 4wd has plenty of room. I'm also going to add a spacer under the plastic intake. I really like the response the t.b. spacer gave.
