Rusted oil dipstick tube
I just did an oil change on my 94 Bravada and I can not get the oil to read on the stick. I am thinking it's because the dipstick tube rusted through. I know there is oil in the damn thing. I think there is a hole rusted through the tube, because I can't get the dipstick to fully seat in the tube.
What I think is happening, is instead of the stick making the bend into the pan, I think it's poking through the hole and scraping the side of the block.
It's rusty and floppy, but I can't see where it's rusted through.
How hard is it to replace the tube?
Thanks,
Trip..

It shouldn't be all that bad to replace, but rust can be a real pain to deal with. The dipstick tube just presses into the block, but there is a bracket and bolt that holds it in position. Two things may cause you fits. Getting the piece out of the block and getting the bolt out of the bracket.
