Intermitent check engine light: act like its not getting gas
1993 2x2 Chevy Blazer. 210,000, kept in good condition. v-6 I believe 4.3
Brand new Distibutor installed: Problem is getting worse so here goes: I searched for 30 min before posting: Going down the road no matter what speed the vehicle will emit check engine light and at the same time start gurgling for gas and try to die. MANY MANY occasions it will die. WHen it does die its normally at a stop light. gurgling in my words is like idle up, idle down rapidly. Thing to concider: could this be the problem: Exhaust leak. There is a leak from where the pipe connects to the muffler towards the back. Im not sure if this would screw up the compression and cause this issue. ANy help would be awesome. |
What code is it throwing? Did it do it before or after the dist? Start with doing a fuel pressure and leakdown test. There is a good write up on how to do it in the DIY section. Post back your results.

it was having this issue and the mechanic suggested we change the dist so we changed it. its still having the issue. I personally think its either A. somehow not getting constant fuel or B. would the exhaust leak cause compression issues like when a cat is clogged. i dunno, not a mechanic, just a nurse..
ALSO. when it messes up the check engine light comes on, then when it fixed itsself, check engine light goes off. I CAN PUT IT IN NEUTRAL GIVE IT A LOT OF GAS, BACK IN DRIVE, AND 9 out of 10 times IT IMMEDIATLY FIXES ITSELF |
Definetly sounds like a fuel issue. The compression lost wouldn't be enough for your issues.

What does the temp control sensor actually do?
could it be the pvc valve |
