Default knock sensor help/bypass?

i have an 03 blazer, 2wd, 4.3. i replaced the knock sensor a while ago and the code for the sensor continues to pop up. i have a slight tick at idle which sounds like a lifter - i would love to fix this but i'm worried about getting in over my head cuz its my only car and i've been told its very intensive on these engines. the main reason i want the code gone is cuz i know it decreases my gas mileage by unnecessarily changing the timing. i've also run multiple engine chemicals to quite/stop the code and knock, in addition to running plus gas. i've heard of wiring to bypass the engine, god idea? any suggestions would be extremely appreciated!
