Has anyone tried one of these things, especially in a previously column-shifted S10 type? I was considering making mine a floor shift. I wonder will it clear all the linkage and lines for the 4X4 lever.

What are you driving? I will assume that you have a shift lever on the floor for the 4wd since you brought that up which would mean that you have a 1st gen truck.

As far as clearing anything, that would all depend on where you want it to be and/or where it is comfortable to have it.
