Major Problem

Major problem need help, I have a 96 Blazer 4.3 178000mi and I will be driving down the road and it will die on me and it will start back up. I have put it on a computer and replaced map sensor and crank sensor and the ignition mod and 02 sen. and it is still doing it, my fuel pressure is reading about 60psi. Has anyone had this problem or can give me a clue on why this is happening? Thanks very frustrating.

RE: Major Problem

Welcome. This is possibly caused by a faulty ignition switch in the steering column.

What pointed you towards changing out all of those other components?

I took it to a garage and I guess I was listening to them. The hooked up to diag. comp. and the thing is I'm no gettingan engine light when it does this so the code are either one thing or nothing. I did notice that I hear my fuel pump kick in and whine a little the when it stops it usually dies but Im getting good pressure.

RE: Major Problem

Could be a partially pluggd fuel filter.

OR it could be a ICM, when they are about to go out they stop working when hot, once cool they work again. Get it tested like 10-15 times in a row at your favorite autoparts store. The reason you do it a bunch of times in a row is to simulate it getting hot. Testing it once or twice will only tell you if it is working when cool, not hot.
