Mangled fuel line issues
Was wondering if anybody knows how to repair a mangled, steel fuel line. The line in question, is the one going into the fuel filter- I was attempting to change out the filter, and the fitting that screws into the filter, and the female fitting on the filter, were one big rusty glob. I hit it with penetrating oil, and tried getting wrenches on the filter, and the fuel line fitting, but just ended up rounding off the fuel line fitting.
I went to our local NAPA- would be no problem to fix with a compression union, if it were not a metric fitting. Short of going to a salvage yard, and trying to cut a chunk of fuel line off a wreck, which has the fitting on it, does anybody have any suggestions? I am assuming there is too much pressure in the lines, to simply cut the steel line before it enters the filter, and replace it with rubber fuel line and some clamps? Thanks for any help. Scott |
