manual trannys are non servicable thats why it has gear oil in it and by non servicable i mean it doesnt have a dipstick to check fluid level. u will have to get a pump to pump gear oil back in it and its easiest done on a lift....jus in my opinion anyways

Missed the question in terms of identifying which transmission is there. If you have RPO code MG5, you have the Muncie transmission which requires GM 1052931 manual transmission fluid (SyncroMesh) which also translates out to a 5w30 motor oil... LOL

Manual transmissions are definitely made to be serviceable. Not having a dip stick does not relate to its service-ability. Transfer cases do not have dipsticks, but you are able to assess the level inside a transfer case by simply removing a plug. If that is your definition of service-ability, then so be it, but...

i worked at a lube shop and when we did our fluid checks this is wut they told me. same goes for seald transaxles like as in front wheel drive vehicles. not all front wheel drives are "non servicable" im jus sayin that thats how i was explaind it. i mean jus cuz they had the plugs to check em we didnt do it unless the customer wanted them checked. alot of the sealed trannies dont really burn fluid unless there is a problem and they rarely need to be changed out unless ur doin a rebuild. im not exactly sayin im right or wrong its jus how it was explained to me and my boss was a ase certified mechanic and was a mechanic with gm for 20 years as well.
