New Serpentine Belt

My 1999 chevy blazer has quite the chirp during cold running and will eventually quiet down after a while. I've been reading up on the goodyear gatorback belts but I've seen a few different ones and am unsure of the # I need. I believe it's the 4060950 but was hoping someone could confirm before I order.

1999 Chevy Blazer 4.3 with AC.

Thanks!

Thank you new guy!

I recently replaced the altenator, new belt, and put in a new water pump a pb out a month ago. The chirping has been driving me nuts when I decide to take the blazer.

I put a 145 amp on mine with a new dayco (1 inch) bigger. Was fine for a while then started chirping, tried everything to get rid of it. Bought a gatorback and its been 2 months with nothing

Thanks for reminding me that I need to get a new gatorback! I put in a genero parts store belt when I did my alt swap and it's annoying and I think a bit to long. Newguy do you have the # of the longer gatorback you put on with your alt swap by chance?

madmaxxed 10-20-2014 08:07 PM

Awesome! Just ordered one for mine. I'm hoping it puts a zipper on the chipmunks under the hood!

It will for sure I had the same issue before my alt swap and the gatorback fixed it immediately! I still carry it in my truck for "just in case":). It's a bit short with my larger alt but it will fit and get me home in a pinch at least.

I will keep the current belt on hand. I cannot remember if it was chirping as bad before my transmission coolant line let go under the hood soaking quite a few components with fluid.

I tucked mine away in the jack storage area. I figure a chiro is better than not going anymore for a bit lol!

I figured it wasn't a bad idea to grab a new idler pulley and tensioner pulley from rock auto too.

madmaxxed 10-26-2014 11:57 AM

I received my belt and pulleys the other day. Got everything on and it's quiet as a mouse. I have one concern though. The thin locking washer on the idler pulley was damaged during bolt removal. I used a similar type of thin press washer but wasn't as tight as the stock one. My guess is that it should be fine considering the pulley is bolted tight once installed.

should be, just keep an eye on it for a bit
