oil drain plug?

I know this may sound stupid, but doesn't the drain plug for the oil turn the same as any nut would (righty-tighty/lefty-loosy)?

Thanks, Shane

Make sure there is no debris in the way of the drain hole (basically just run your finger along the threads or use a rag). Also check the threads of the plug to make sure they aren't all messed up and/or cross-treaded. If neither or those makes any difference you can pick up a new plug from you local auto parts store for under $10. If that screws in, then you plug is buggered up, if that dont work then your drain hole is messed up and needs to be re-tapped.

RE: oil drain plug?

well when i got the plug out and i was turning toward the back of my blazer, the plug had a thin strand of metal rapped around it. I;m guessing i need to rethread it. would it be cheaper for a new thread or anew pan?

Thanks, Shane

RE: oil drain plug?

Ok, called the parts store they told me about a larger self tapping plug. Has anyone used one of these and are they safe to use on my oil pan?

Thanks, Shane
