Default Oil usage

Greetings everyone. My blazer has burned a little more than half a quart of oil and I still have 700 miles until the next oil service. Is this a big deal or is it common with blazers? Also I’m not sure if it’s leaking it or burning it. Anyway thanks in advance for any advice.

If it's like most, it's probably leaking some and burning some. Either way, that doesn't sound like excessive oil consumption.

Your down 1/2 quart in how many miles and what is the vehicle total mileage? Lastly, what viscosity oil are you using?

. This amount of oil is over 2300 miles, using 10/30 weight and total mileage 84300

If your burning that much oil in 2300 miles in an engine with that mileage then that's a fair amount, especially since your already in a thicker oil. My oil change intervals are 10K-15K miles with 205,000 on the clock and I don't burn a quart in that interval (PYB straight dino). Not that it matters because there is not much you can do about it except try a high mileage oil. Never tried the stuff myself but I guess it swells up the seals and helps leaking. I have a Toyota coming up on 300,000 miles that burns less than 1/4 quart in 10K-15K miles between changes (Kendall SS). I also have a Malibu at around 125,000 miles that burns no oil in those intervals (Mobil 1) but that's a much newer engine.
