Overfilled Transmission

I was changing the transmission fluid on my '02 blazer the other day. The owner's manual calls for 5 quarts during fluid and filter change. I went with 4 1/2 to be safe and apparently that was too much because I now have an overfilled condition (fluid is past the full hot mark and has air bubbles).

It was two days ago that I added the fluid and I just started experiencing transmission slippage today. If I syphon off the excess fluid asap, will that correct the slippage or has long-term damage already most likely been done?

ok, a little overfull will not cause it to slip. now bubbles and slip says alot. did u get the right filter????? the 4l60e has 2 pan options deep and shallow. shallow filter bout 1/2 inch thick and deep about 1 and 1/2 inch thick. got the shallow in place of the deep it will pull air and slip, and make bubbbles. also, the metal and rubber grommet that the filter shoves into, did it pull out on the old filter? is it ripped? its pulling air instead of fluid somehow and i would be suspicious of these thing seeing how u just were in there and it just started at the same time. theres a few other things that can cause this too but start here and i bet u will find your gremlin
