P0300 missfire when cold
Last monday my truck started to missfire again after about a year of no problems. It went all week with no issues, but started missfiring again this monday. The computer shows a code P0300 for a random missfire as a history code. I know the aftermarket cap and rotors have a habit of failing, but could it be something else?
|
Update: Checked the cap and rotor and they do have some corrosion build up the terminals, but in reinstalling the distributor cap I accidently stripped the threads on the distributor itself. I am going to attempt to repair it, but I might end having to replace the distributor itself. Is Cardone a good brand or do I have to get an AC Delco distributor.

The corrosion build up might not be corrosion;) When the cap is replaced, silicone dielectric grease must be applied to the terminals inside and out. When the engine is running, the grease crystalizes. It is there to reduce/eliminate corrosion.
If the housing is stripped or broken, get a Skip White 6671-BK all aluminum distributor: White Performance Detail Description Stay away from plastic distributors, and use AC Delco cap & rotor only. |
Thank you for the advice, hopefully everything works outs. I'm getting the parts today.

Got the parts last Thursday night and my truck got me forth to work without any issues. The distributor I got was an Accel and it came with new everything; the distributor you guys recommended is out stock and I had to get my truck back out on the road ASAP (I had to carpool with my boss at work for a while; while my truck was down).
So far no issues, but does anyone have any experience with Accel distributors? |
As long as it's all aluminum, not plastic, it should be fine. Don't expect the cap that came with it to last long though.
EDIT: Out of stock, that's odd. Their Ebay store has plenty:http://www.ebay.com/itm/GM-CHEVY-VOR...0cbf6b&vxp=mtr |
Glad to hear, going to buy an AC Delco cap and rotor and put them in my truck incase the worse happens. Thank you for your help.
