PLZ HELP 2001 Jimmy sputtering stalling

Hello, I am very new to this forum. Am I desperate need of help! I have a 2001 4.3 Jimmy. I will start from the beginning... Just before Christmas the intake manifold gasket went on it "days before Christmas" so we sent it to a shop to have it repaired. We got the truck back and the temperature gauge didn't work... So we took it back to the shop they got it working in seconds lol. Sigh. After that it was having trouble starting in the mornings. I we live I am Canada "burr" lol. First few days it was 5 cranks, then it was 10 cranks... New battery and 20 cranks. Then it would run fine for the rest of the day! Then it would not start at all. We had to get it towed home! I pour gas down the throat and it started right up! Then stalled right after! I have checked the normal things fuel pressure is good... Drops fast when not running thoug . Replaced the fuel filter "no change" . The old one seemed cleaned. It will start and die every time... I have since found if I feather the pedal it will spit and sputter sometimes even clean itself up and if I keep idal above 1500 it will seem as though it runs great. Anything under and it will start the spit and sputter all over again. The truck ran great up until the intake manifold gasket was replaced... I really need help! I am banging my head off the truck trying to figure this out. This is the girlfriends truck... Not sure if Iam leaving anything out PLZ HELP

I really don't know too much myself, but I do believe that a problem with the egr valve can cause that problem. Maybe try cleaning it and see if it helps? A new gasket for it is only a few dollars so it is worth a try.
