Poss transmission issues?
So im new to this page but im wondering if anyone has had the issue im having with my 1996 blazer ls 4×4 when im pushing on the gas pedal to accelerate it only goes about 30 miles an hour if you give it more gas it just keeps reving and wont go any faster unless you floor it then it only goes about 35. Any suggestions or is it a transmission issue?
Based on what you are describing, it sounds like transmission slippage. However, we need more information.
Have you tried shifting gears manually to see if there's any difference?
Is your check engine light on?
If so, have you had the codes checked?
What condition is your transmission fluid in?
Are there any other symptoms?
We would love to help. But please give us more to go on.

So we only had time to look at it for a moment as it did this on my way to work. So we didnt have time to check the transmission fluid but no check engine light is on we went into different gears and its doing the same thing not really any other symptoms although i think the smoke is related to the radiator because we needed to put fluid in it and drove it to a frienda house near by and no more smoke after we put more coolant in.
Usually when solenoids fail you will have an associated code present. (Check engine light)
If no code is present then there may be a mechanical issue with the transmission. Have the pan dropped and see if there are metal shavings or other debris there.
Put the fluid that you take out back in. Do not replace with new fluid. Only use fresh fluid to bring it back up to proper level (there will be some fluid loss during the process). Good luck.

There are parts called the 3-4 clutch pack that are integral to the shifting into 3rd and 4th gears. When mine went out, I could accelerate up to about 30 mph with the transmission shifting from 1 to 2 but when it got to 3 the engine would start to speed up with no change in vehicle speed. When it first started failing, I could get it to drive in 3rd and very gradually accelerate but eventually I could not even do that.
If you can get it to accelerate as normal up to speeds a bit above when the transmission would automatically shift when you manually shift it from 1 to 2 but then have the engine slip (i.e. "rev" faster) when you shift it into 3rd at about 25-30 mph, then the 3-4 clutch packs are likely bad.
If this is what has failed, the only solution is to have the transmission rebuilt. A transmission shop can do the diagnosis for you.

I have an appointment at a tranny shop tommarow morning we replaced the solenoids and it helped but now it does the same thing going from 55-65 which it could have been doing before i just wasnt going that fast. I post whatever they tell me!!!!
