RE: is it possilbe to put....
The 3.4 is a little bit more than a bored out 2.8 but yeah. I also think the exact HP numbers are around 50 more give or take.
Another option is to use your 2.8 block and put a FWD's 3.1 crank and pistons in it to make it a 3.1.

to Hanr3. yeah like my original plans was goin v8. cause of more power. when i heard that puttin the350 init will make my car be in the shop more then be on the road. made me think should i even bother with the 350. i mean if its so much work. then imight as well as tellin him to put the 350 engine. which he would have to get a new trans. just todrop a 5 spd inthe blazer.but what is better in gas wise too. a 4.3 or a v8?
to Neo71665 your says to make the 3.1 ill have to get a fwd's crank and pistion to make it somewhat close to a 4.3?

as long as you know what your doing for the 350 swap it is easy and it should run better than your 2.8

Gas mileage is all up to the driver.
I know if I had a 350 in my Blazer I sure wouldn't be easy on the go peddle. [sm=gears.gif]
Sticks do better then autos.
to figure out which has beeter gas mileage you should compare a 4.3 to your 2putt8. Find a rig with the same set-up (stick/auto, gears, 4door/2door) then find out what they get for gas mileage.
Post up your info and ask the question. Bound to be someone on here you has a rig like yours, but with a 4.3 instead of the 2putt8.

The auto is easier to drive, and more comfotable if you live in a place that has traffic lights every block.......
If you are going to do an engine swap, putting the 350 in, is the exact same amount of work as putting in the 4.3. The 4.3 is after all, simply a 350 with the front two cylinders cut off. You wll run into ALL of the same problems. Reliability is only as good as the parts/craftsmanship that goes into the project. I see several V-8 S 10's around here, and for the most part, they are as reliable as thier full size counterparts. There is even a TPI 350 Blazer runnin' around. (talk about a torquey little truck.....) There is even one set up with a big block, that cruises around. (doesn't drive that one as much though, as gas is somewhat expensive.....)
Done well, the 350 swap is an excellent upgrade for these trucks. Done poorly, well, hope you have a mechanic on staff.
