Default The Project

Here is the project my friend wants to take on think its possible he wants to swap his 4.3L vortec out of his 2003 Blazer for a 5.3L vortec out of his cousins silverado. I have seen a video where some guy dropped a v8 Into an s-10 And smoked the tires through all the gears it was crazy!!!

Im guessing we are looking at alot of work but what do you all think also the stock blazer trans couldnt stay in could it?

Go to this website for the info on V8 swaps for the S10 series. The 4L60E transmission got put into lots of vehicles with V8's although I think there were different clutch packs used.

Although i agree it would be an awesome project wouldnt that be alot of power for a truck that light?? I would think the back tires would be bald in no time from spinning. s-10 Trucks dont weigh much.

Well, a 5.3 puts out ~300hp (+/- 15hp) and a Blazer weighs ~4,000lbs, sothat's still no monster motor for its weight. You could spin 'em if you want, it all depends on the weight of the right foot.

I say if you're gonna do a V8 swap go for a Chevy 350 or a 383 stroker. Go big while you have the chance! A 350 would smoke the tires until you're riding on rims in to no time. Plus the power to weight ratio would be such a huge difference the engine would use less than a drop of gas to get it going and you'll have all HP to the floor. If the back tires spin too much, put some slicks on that baby.
